Prom night is one of the most important occasions in the life of a teenager. Most people shop for beautiful prom gowns to feel like Cinderella… even if it is for one night. Since these gowns are being designed for teenagers, one has to abreast of the latest fashion trends. One can also feel free to experiment, since teenagers love to be different… to stand out. So, don’t hesitate to use bright colors and trendy patterns.
Depending on the shape of the body, gowns can have different cuts.
Empire
An empire cut gown has a high waistline with the hem beginning just beneath the bust. The skirt falls away straight to the floor.
Ball Gown
The gown is traditional and is characterized by a very full skirt that begins at the natural waist and falls to the floor. The waist is seamed and the corset can be heavily adorned.
Tulle
This bouffant gown has a puffed-out skirt and sheer usually made from stiffened rayon or silk.
Sheath/Column
This style hugs every part of the body, so a good figure is essential for this cut.
A-Line
The A-line has a form-fitted bodice that flares out from the natural waist to a full skirt. It is also called as the ‘princess cut’ gown.
High-Low Gown
The gown is characterized by being hemmed long in the back (at the ankles or to the floor) and just above the knees in the front. It shows off an hourglass figure to its best. It’s a great way to show off long legs without wearing a short dress.
