Imagine that you are relaxing inside of the warm waters of a pool at a hotel located in a beautiful destination. That’s what vacations are all about, right? Pool designers are embracing the possibilities of creating the illusion that the vacation can last forever by exploring unique designs in infinity pools (also known as edgeless pools). A pool that looks as though it stretches on forever and ever is a great place to pretend you never have to return to your real life.
For the traveler who wants to dream that the pool never has to be left behind, here are the top nine infinity pools at hotels and resorts around the world:
1. La Casa Que Canta. This Mexico resort has one of the most uniquely designed infinity pools because its rounded ledges are actually comfortable to sit on. Instead of dangling your legs into a pool, you can be in the pool dangling your legs off of the edge as you look out over the Pacific Ocean.
2. Gran Hotel Central. At first glance this Barcelona pool doesn’t look too intricate in design but the simplicity of its rectangular shape is intentionally designed to compliment the urban surroundings of the rooftop lounge space.
3. Jade Mountain. This resort doesn’t just have one amazing infinity pool for everyone to enjoy. Instead, it has much-smaller en-suite pools for the private pleasure of the guests who stay here. The edgeless pools are unique not only because of their small size but also because they use one-of-a-kind glass tiles and fiber optic lighting to create great special effects.
4. Perivolas Hotel. From within this pool it actually looks as though the waters of the pool extend straight into the beautiful Aegean Sea of Santorini, Greece.
5. Kanuhura Resort. The large scale size of this edgeless infinity pool is what impresses the eye but the true genius of the design is the swim-up bar that’s located in the center of the pool. It exits into the ocean on the island of Maldives.
6. Banyan Tree Hotel. Eventually the edge of this pool has to be reached but when it does you’ll find yourself right on the edge of the Indian Ocean on the astounding island nation of Seychelles.
7. Four Seasons Resort Bali. Take an adventure across a wooden bridge to the rooftop infinity pool where you can relax and soak in views of the surrounding jungle.
8. Intercontinental Hotel. This Hong Kong hotel didn’t want to settle for just one edgeless pool. Instead, the designer created a set of three infinity pools which are each heated to a different temperature so that you can choose the water that you prefer.
9. Bacara Resort. This California resort also has three infinity pools which are more uniquely designed in a step-down tier pattern that exits right on to the Pacific Ocean.
